SQL Server Graph Data Processing
Speaker: Azhagappan Arunachalam

Azhagappan Arunachalam

Session Abstract:
Microsoft's marching orders these days seem to be on shortening their release cadences on several of their products.  PowerBI updates have been on a monthly cadence for the past couple of years, and SQL Server major releases have shortened from multiyear releases to yearly ones - and if this is sustainable is yet to be seen!  Microsoft recently released SQL Server 2017 RC2, and some of the major components that make up this release (since SQL Server 2016) are... (a) integration of Python with SQL Server, (b) adaptive query plan, and (c) sql graph, not to mention the portability of the product onto other platforms.  SQL Graph integration is a v1 of the product - but one that holds a lot of promises.  In this session, we'll take a look at what this feature brings to the table, and see how it is different from the other graph database offerings.

Speaker Bio:
Az has been working with SQL Server since v4.21/SQLNT. He started his career with troubleshooting at chip level, worked as a network engineer managing Novell NetWare networks, graduated into managing Windows NT, moved onto development, administered databases, and is currently working as a database architect.  He's excited about all the cloud offerings that Microsoft and others have made possible, and in sharing his findings with aspiring data enthusiasts.
