Description:

Top 10 Lessons from My First Data Warehouse
Speaker: Geoff Johnson

Geoff Johnson

Session Abstract:

Over the past eighteen months I have been focused primarily on one task: building a data warehouse from the ground up. Because SQL Server 2008 Express was my baseline for development tools, I had to get creative with pure T-SQL -- SSIS simply wasn't in my toolbox. Version 1.1 of the data warehouse is now live, but getting to this point has been a learning process. In this session I will share the top ten lessons I have learned about data warehousing in general and about how to make it work even without SSIS and other tools.

Speaker Bio:

Geoff has worked with SQL Server for over twelve years, mostly helping end users with custom report requirements . Since January of 2016 he has been the Business Intelligence Developer for Custom Data Systems, which provides a data solution for state societies of CPAs. He is member of the Richmond SQL Server User Group and has presented several times for that group as well as at SQL Saturday events in Richmond and D.C.
